11th Annual  Conference Thank you to all who made this year's Conference successful. With more than 508 participants, this year's Conference was the largest in attendance to date. We hope your experience was as fun and as educational as ours. We would like to give a special thanks to each and every participant that made it possible and to Deputy Assistant Secretary of REAC, David A. Vargas from HUD Headquarters Washington D.C. for providing the Opening Session speech. Additionally, we would like to acknowledge those who supported the Conference Planning, Coordination, Training and Logistics. Thank you for your hard work and tireless efforts. We look forward to an exciting 2011! You have a number of significant changes proposed this year that will affect your agency and your operations. As we make this transition together, please remember our mission to serve those in our communities that are in most need. Our goal, as an industry, is to work collectively to assist our communities and better our country. One such opportunity that was announced at this year’s Conference, is the Nationwide Cookbook Scholarship Project. This project calls for volunteers to gather and test recipes from housing agency residents for a published Cookbook. The sales proceeds from this book will create college/trade school scholarships exclusively for “C” students of housing agencies.  | ENERGY STAR® LEADERSHIP IN HOUSING AWARD Fox Energy Specialists earns award for verifying energy efficiency in new homes, helping to save both the environment and utility bills. Fort Worth, Texas – Fox Energy Specialists, a division of The Nelrod Company, is pleased to announce that it was recently recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2010 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award. This award recognizes the important contribution Fox Energy Specialists made to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection by verifying more than 2800 ENERGY STAR qualified homes last year. Collectively, these homes will save our customers approximately $1,261,434 on utility bills each year.
