Housing Choice Voucher Specialist Training & Certification “Provides Information and Skills Necessary to Successfully operate Housing Choice Voucher Programs”
In addition to emphasizing rent determinations and occupancy requirements, this 5-day course will also focus on the operational skills needed to administer the program and meet HUD review and assessment goals. Participants will receive handout materials and a comprehensive resource CD containing the training manual, sample forms and HUD resources. Course topics include: - Overview of the various functions of a housing authority and its funding
- Policy and procedural requirements
- Determining Assets and Income
- Occupancy requirements and challenges
- Compliant Voucher, RFTA, HAP Contract and Lease execution
- Fair Housing compliance – outreach, leasing, occupancy, and reasonable accommodations/ modifications
- Portability requirements and procedures
- Preparation for SEMAP Certification
- Voucher Management System (VMS) reporting
- Certification examination
