Home Energy Ratings

Let Fox Energy Specialists conduct a Home Energy Field Verification of your house or building. We'll do a complete Field Verification, including:

  • A blower door test (to test the leakiness of the house)
  • A duct blaster test (to test the leakiness of the duct system),
  • A thermal bypass checklist (a visual inspection of common construction areas where air can flow through or around insulation)

We will also simulate your home’s energy use with specialized computer software. The results of this analysis allows us to identify the most effective upgrades to meet ENERGY STAR® performance guidelines.

Review Your Building Plans For Energy Efficiency - review your current home construction practices and get recommended improvements that will result in ENERGY STAR® compliance.

Specify and Use Approved Materials and Equipment - lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans, and appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines

Verify The Efficiency Of Your Building - During the construction process, the rater will also conduct inspections and perform diagnostic tests to ensure that your home qualifies to meet ENERGY STAR® requirements.

Estimate Your Annual Energy Costs - information from the plans and the verification test is entered into specially designed computer simulation programs that estimate the annual energy use of the builder's current house design.

Why Should You Have A Certified ENERGY STAR® Rated Home?

  • Save Money On Your Energy Bills - An ENERGY STAR® rated home saves 15-30% annually for homes built to local codes.
  • Increase Your Comfort - improve your thermal comfort and reduce the amount of dust carried in by outside air.
  • Reduce Your Maintenance Costs - increase the life expectancy of HVAC equipment
  • Reduce Home Damage - reduce the potential for moisture damage caused by infiltration of moist outside air, especially in humid climates.
  • Increase Resale Value of Your Property - ENERGY STAR® certified homes have higher appeal and market value.
